Our mission at the Alaska State Stroke Coalition is to improve stroke care across the state by promoting collaboration, education, and innovation. Through our partnership with healthcare providers, stroke survivors, and community stakeholders, we aim to reduce the impact of stroke on individuals and families by enhancing prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation efforts. Our ultimate goal is to achieve the best possible outcomes for stroke patients and improve the overall quality of life in Alaska.

RAPID AK
For every minute of ischemia, the brain loses 1.9 million neurons. For every hour of ischemia, the brain loses 120 million neurons and ages 3.4 years.
Literally, Time is Brain
Rapid AI is a CT software that shortens the time to probable diagnosis and directly connects care teams across institutions. This allows processes to work in parallel, rather than consecutively. The goal for transfer time for potential interventional cases is ideally within 90 minutes, and not greater than 120 minutes, from arrival to departure.
Rapid AK is a 3-year study to implement this Rapid AI technology at hospitals across Alaska to demonstrate the impact it has on improving patient workflow, clinical care, and ultimately stroke patient outcomes.
American heart association GWTG: Rural Accelerator
Data drives change. Numbers matter - these numbers represents people's lives and their life with/without disability.
The American Heart Association Get With the Guidelines Stroke registry is the premier data repository of all evidence-based, guideline directed stroke therapies and time sensitive goals. The AHA Rural Accelerator offers free participation for all Alaskan Hospitals through 12/2027. The Alaska Stroke Coalition is spearheading participation and data sharing within this registry. Not only will this elevate each facilities individual process and outcome metrics, but it will collectively allow the State of Alaska to benchmark performance against best practice standards and national performance. This data collection & sharing will allow us to target our improvement efforts where they will be most impactful.
Statewide STroke Protocols
Partnership across the diverse network of Alaskan healthcare providers to create a standard of transport & care for stroke patients that incorporates Alaska's unique geography and challenges while aligning care with best-practice standards and guidelines.
